5 Easy Steps to Get The Perfect Blow Wave at Home- Thanks to a Loxy’s Expert

For those of you that don’t know me I am not great at doing my own hair. I can straighten and semi curl it. Besides that its a messy top knot for me. So whenever I get to sit in a hairdressers chair I ask as many questions as the poor stylist can answer. I recently was treated to a treatment and blow wave at the beautiful Loxy’s salon in Ponsonby. Getting a blow wave in a salon is a real treat for me because I gave up on doing blow waves at home due to the fact that by the end of it I was sweaty, my arms hurt and my hair was more frizzy then when I started. So when my hair stylist Eve Lithgow started my blow wave my first question was, “Is there an easy way to do a blow wave at home?” She was kind enough to share her tips with me and so I am passing them onto you.

Step One- You will first want to protect your hair from the heat. Eve applied the Melu Hair Sheild onto my wet hair making sure it was evenly applied. It also has a uv protection perfect for summer!

Step Two- The perfect blow wave is all about volume and that starts with a thickening spray. Eve used the Atomic Thickening Spritz.  Spray onto the roots, and then throw your hair forward and blast with the hair dryer. “Anytime your hair is dried in the opposite direction it normally is then you’re going to get volume,” Fully dry the roots leaving the rest of your hair semi dry. Using hand in a combing motion pushing your hair in the opposite direction that it normally falls.

Step Three- Using a large round brush finish off the ends taking pieces of hair and looping it around the brush. This will smooth the hair and give it shape.

Step Four- Apply smoothing gel rub Eve used the Project Sukuroi by Mineral. You don’t need much of this liquid gold just the size of your pinky nail. Rub the product between your hands to warm the product and apply softly to the ends and using what little is left on your hands to flatten any flyways.
