The new Sun Smart

When it comes to being “sun smart” we often get images of us sitting on a beach, hot and sweaty and trying to rub in a thick smelly white cream that just won’t rub in. However when it comes to sun protection two things have changed. Firstly we are not kidding ourselves anymore about what damage the sun can actually do! Second we are now aware that the entire sun protection game has been changed by brands bringing out hardworking, high quality sun care.

A few weeks ago I was invited to try some new products from The Cancer Society. They have a new range of products but one stole the show for me. It’s the Invisible Protect Gel in SPF50. My husband is a builder and has been using this and he says its the best sunscreen he has used because it just disappears into the skin. Plus it smells like heavenly coconut!

  • SPF 50+ UVA and UVB Broad Spectrum Protection
  • Transparent, moisturising clear sun gel – fresh and quickly absorbed
  • Coconut Fragrance
  • Dermatologically tested – so suitable for sensitive skin

When I was trying out products from their new range they took a photo of me and my son in a infrared light. This light shows you where you are protected from the sun. I applied sunscreen onto my son and I was amazed when they showed me the photo after. Look how I missed half his face and neck. That is why it’s so important to really take your time applying sunblock especially around the ears and neck.

How amazing is this. This is one are with sun block and one without!

Last week I attended a very informative event with La Roche-Posay. I was amazed by this brand. Check out the video below if you want to learn more about them. We learnt all about their new My UV Patch and it blew my mind. Did you know that 2 out of 3 New Zealanders will get skin cancer. This patch could give you the information you need to save your life. Watch the video below to find out more.

If you are serious about getting sun smart this summer I couldn’t recommend this pack more. The UV Patch will be available in La Roche-Posay’s Ultra-light Summer Pack available at select UniChem and Life Pharmacies from December.
