The Blonde Hair Game Changer

When it comes to my hair journey lets just say there have been some awkward stages along the way. I have had the bad cuts, the even worse hair colors and the ‘I don’t want to even talk about that one time I got a perm’ stage. At the moment my hair is balayage or is it ombre? I don’t know the difference but its darker at the top and lightens as it goes down. I have found through trial and error that this style can either look amazing or look like ‘mince and cheese’ as we call it here in New Zealand. I have this obsession with ashy blonde tones and for a brunette to dream of being ashy blonde is like me not spending during a sale at Sephora…a slight possibility but highly unlikely.

That’s why the entire hairdressing world gasped in unison when Kim Kardashian stepped out during Paris Fashion week as a total platinum blonde when a mere 24hrs earlier she was a dark brunette. For those of you that don’t know as much about dying hair (like me) it seems that to go from dark hair to blonde it takes stages as not to over damage your hair. These painful stages is often what turns woman off extreme hair changes. There is the dreaded orange stage that you have to live with for at least two weeks give your hair a break before going blonde. Not ideal. So how did Kimmy K do it? Well I gave her a call…jokes my hairdresser told me that the hair dying game has been changed and its all thanks to a new product called Olaplex. You might also hear being calling it the ‘Plex’ and its what let Kim go from dark to blonde in a day with minimum damage.

This was all reveled to me recently when I was at the hairdressers (Stephen Marr in Newmarket) when I was telling my hairdresser that I had let my hair get to a bad bad place and how I dreamed of being more ashy blonde.

Normally when I would say such a thing the hairdresser would sympathetically smile then kindly take a pin and pop my dream of being ashy blonde by telling me how that would simply damage my hair too much and I need to settle for more of a amber or yellow blonde.

However this time my hairdresser said, “Sure we just need to Plex it” She then went on to tell me how Olaplex works and how it will be my fairy godmother making my hair dreams come true.

So how does this magic potion work? “Olaplex was created in California only a year ago, and has already reached cult status. The founders commissioned two world-leading PhDs in Materials and Chemistry who had never worked on hair products before, Dr. Eric Pressly and Dr. Craig Hawker, to find a way to stop chemical treatments from damaging hair. Using their fresh perspective, this dream team invented a single ingredient chemistry, one that is free of silicone or oils, which links broken bonds in the hair during and after chemical services to make them stronger than they were before. It may all sound like the same old mumbo-jumbo, but proof is in the pudding: top colourists are raving about the results from Olaplex all over social media.”

The results really speak for themselves because after my hair was done it didn’t feel damaged at all and I have fine hair. I would highly recommend this for anyone especially brides who might be wanting to lighten their hair for their wedding. Its the best way to get the look without the damage and I am one happy ashy blonde girl now. ♥
