5 Things to do to Ruin your Wedding Morning

I have had the pleasure of being a part of hundreds of brides wedding mornings. Most of the time its a wonderful time of laughter, sipping champagne and getting ready but through the years I have also seen when things go wrong. I have picked up a few do’s and don’ts from seeing so many wedding mornings go from relaxed to stressed faster then you can say I Do. I hope these 5 tips will help make your morning the most enjoyable time and a great memory to cherish forever.

Don’t Delegate –

The first way you can ruin your wedding morning is to try to do everything yourself. As organized as you might be there are still some things that can only be done on the wedding morning. I have seen many brides stress levels start to rise as they spend time doing something that a bridesmaid could do. You have bridesmaids for a reason…use them!

Don’t Eat-

This one might seem like common sense but I have been doing makeup many times when the bride starts to feel faint but “pushes” through. This is not a time to watch what your eating. Your dress fits and that’s not going to change in a day. However what will ruin your wedding is fainting or even worse getting hangry and taking it out on your new groom/bridesmaids. When I say eat I don’t mean half a grape fruit I mean a lovely breakfast that is going to get you through till dinner. Trust me on this one!

Get your timing wrong-

Being someone who is constantly arranging timings for brides I feel farily confident in this tip. When it comes to the schedule for getting ready there is only one rule…It WILL take longer then you thought. Most brides that I talk to count in my timing as a makeup artist, the hairdresser and the time they need to leave by but there are so many other things that you need to factor in. There are the photos to be taken when you are all ready with your family and bridesmaids, lunch which you don’t want to rush (see above tip) and the one brides never think about…time getting dressed. This is not just popping on a dress but a process that takes time. Most brides need a hand or two getting dressed and then there is the veil and accessories. Its at this point I see the most stress start to pop up. So be kind to yourself and leave time for everything including that calming glass of bubbles before you leave.

Stress about the Details-

You want to really ruin your wedding morning? Well stress about all those little things that cant be changed and that most people wont notice! Sorry if that sounds harsh but its the truth. There comes a time on your wedding day when there is nothing else you can do so you have to breathe and just let go. If Aunt Peggy forgets how you wanted to bows to be tied then that’s just fine, no one will notice anyways!

Don’t enjoy the moment-

When it comes down to it your day is made up of beautiful moments. One of the saddest things I see on a wedding morning is when I watch a bride in a haze of stress miss the way her grandmother looks at her in her dress, the flowers that arrived from the groom  or how her dad is holding back tears looking at his little girl. These are the moments that you cant ever get back. So my biggest advice to brides on their wedding morning is stop…look around…and breathe. Its your wedding and its beautiful! ♥
