When I first came across Katerina Dima’s blog I fell in love. Each image is clean, minimalist perfection. Her blog and Instagram have become hugely popular and Katerina has carved her name into the design world with her strong Scandinavian style. “My style is very influenced by Nordic design although I still retain strong bonds to contemporary American, industrial and minimalism. It is no wonder Modern Scandinavian design has captured so much of my attention as it is born from the basic principles of modernism fused with traditional materials and can have the look of contemporary interior design.” I couldn’t wait to ask Katerina questions on design, her style and more.

FM-How did your love of Design begin? From a very young age I found myself attracted to everything that had to do with tangible art. While I loved drawing I was always so much more attracted to buildings and was constantly trying to redecorate my room. It didn’t take me long to realize I loved designing above everything else and thus my love affair for design begun.

FM-How would you describe your style? I love everything contemporary with a dash of vintage. My style is influenced heavily right now from Scandinavian style as you can see from my home 🙂

FM-Your home is beautiful, What is your favorite part of your home? Thank you so much! While my house is under constant renovation right now my favorite spot is definitely my living room corner. With the addition of a few Ferm Living baskets turned into side tables I can sit there by the hours!

FM-What are your biggest do’s and don’ts when it comes to interior design? I cannot say I follow any specific rule when it comes to design. I follow my instincts when it comes to how to organize my feelings into visual representations around me, then I work with surfaces and colors in order to achieve what I have in mind.

FM-What are three things you couldn’t live without? I wouldn’t want to live in a world without chocolate, my ipad/iphone and my boyfriend.

FM-What is the best thing your city has to offer? I live in rural Norway, and while city life is great there is nothing better than the views that the whole country and the place I live in can offer.Just a small hike is enough to invigorate you for the whole day!

FM-Happiness to you is…? There are so many scenarios I could describe but each of them contains sitting in a cosy spot with good company and good wine!

FM-Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? I definitely see myself in a new house. Hopefully one I have designed myself!
